Elders and Deacons

We are led by a team of biblically qualified male Elders who serve as shepherds under Christ.  Each elder acts with equal authority, yet differs in their responsibilities.  Elders work in mutual regard, collaboration, and unity with one another.  They make decisions on behalf of the church with both prayerful conviction and pastoral sensitivity.

Deacons meet the care needs of the body and are a vital part of the ministry here.  They also organize and equip others to meet the larger needs of the church family here.

  • Ben Cunningham

    Pastor/Elder - Teaching and Worship

I’m the Pastor/Elder of Teaching and Worship at Redemption.  I oversee musical worship, our elder team, church vision, children’s ministry and I share in the preaching and teaching.  I grew up in Rohnert Park, CA and was married to my pretty wife Bree in 2002.  We have four kids, Micah, Grace, Hudson and Ella.  I attended the SRJC for my general education, and then I finished up at Biola University with a degree in Bible.  I went on to Talbot seminary for a Masters in Theology and am currently pursuing a ThM at Western Seminary.  After our time in LA, my wife and I returned to Sonoma county to help strengthen the church in this area.  I was a staff elder at what was formerly Calvary Community Church for the past 10 years before we merged with Foothills Community Church to become Redemption Hill Church (confusing I know).  I love my fam, books, all things Andrew Peterson, theological conversation, solitude, and watching God work in our church and county.

  • Kelly Hubley

    Elder

I have served as a lay elder at Redemption Hill Church since the merge of Foothills and Calvary in 2017. Prior to serving at Redemption I was serving God and his flock as an Elder at Calvary community Church in RP since 2010. I have been a resident of Sonoma County since our family moved up from Marin in 1960. My wife claims residency a tad longer than that. Watching the county grow over those 59+ years gives us a perspective of the changing needs of our community that serves my shepherding role well.

  • Tim Swanson

    Pastor/Elder - Preaching and Administration

I am the Pastor/Elder of Preaching & Administration. My direct areas of oversight include preaching, our staff, leadership development, administration, local outreach, and youth ministry. As a California kid who grew up in the East Bay, I have been blessed to minister in the greater bay area and call Sonoma County home. My wife, Alisa, and I began dating in college while serving in student ministry and married in July of 1997. We have 3 children: Ashley, Trenton, and Tyler. I have served as a Pastor/Elder at Redemption Hill Church since the “marriage” of Foothills Community Church and Calvary Community Church into one new church during August 2017. Prior to the merger, I ministered as the Lead Pastor at Foothills Community Church for 9 years. In addition, I served on the pastoral staff of First Baptist Church of Windsor for 7 ½ years and in a bi-vocational role at First Baptist Church of Castro Valley for 8 years. I received a Master of Divinity degree in Theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (Gateway Seminary) and a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University of Hayward (East Bay). My passion is to “help people understand the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ, challenge them to live as Christ lived, and equip them for the work of God’s ministry.” Some of my greatest joys include reading God’s Word; going on dates with my wife; spending time with my children; aviation; playing sports; and watching the Giants, Raiders, Warriors, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Kory Hopkins - Deacon

I have been attending Redemption Hill Church since 2000 and I oversee the hospitality and facility teams. I have been a husband to my beautiful wife Jessica since October of 2002 and we have three children. Kolton, Summer, and Shayla who have been an absolute blessing, mostly, to our family. I love riding motorcycles, though currently I am without one, and playing golf. I promise if you golf with me we will have a good time and see the entire course, every square inch, and sometimes the same area twice.
