Elders and Deacons

We are led by a team of biblically qualified male Elders who serve as shepherds under Christ.  Each elder acts with equal authority, yet differs in their responsibilities.  Elders work in mutual regard, collaboration, and unity with one another.  They make decisions on behalf of the church with both prayerful conviction and pastoral sensitivity.

Deacons meet the care needs of the body and are a vital part of the ministry here.  They also organize and equip others to meet the larger needs of the church family here.

  • Ben Cunningham

    Pastor/Elder - Teaching and Worship

As the Pastor/Elder of Teaching and Worship at Redemption, Ben oversees musical worship, our elder team, church vision, children’s ministry and shares in the preaching and teaching.  Having grown up in Rohnert Park, CA and Ben married his gorgeous wife Bree in 2002.  They  have four kids, Micah, Grace, Hudson and Ella.  A local boy, Ben attended the SRJC for his general education, went down to Biola University in Southern California to study for a  degree in Bible, followed by a Masters in Theology from Talbot seminary. He is currently pursuing a ThM at Western Seminary.  After their time in LA, the Cunninghams returned to Sonoma County to help strengthen the church in this area.  Ben was a staff elder at what was formerly Calvary Community Church for 10 years before it merged merged with Foothills Community Church to become Redemption Hill Church.  He loves my family, books, all things Andrew Peterson, theological conversation, solitude, and watching God work in our church and county.

  • Kelly Hubley

Kelly has served as a lay elder at Redemption Hill Church since the merge of Foothills and Calvary in 2017. Prior to serving at Redemption Hill, he was serving God and his flock as an Elder at Calvary community Church in RP since 2010.  He has been a resident of Sonoma County since his family moved up from Marin in 1960. My wife, Linda, claims residency a tad longer than that. Watching the county grow over those 59+ years has given them a perspective of the changing needs of our community, which impacts the way that he shepherd the members of Redemption Hill.

  • Tim Swanson

    Pastor/Elder - Preaching and Administration

Tim is the Pastor/Elder of Preaching & Administration. His direct areas of oversight include preaching, our staff, leadership development, administration, local outreach, and youth ministry. As a California kid who grew up in the East Bay, he has been blessed to minister in the greater Bay Area and call to Sonoma County home. He and his wife, Alisa, began dating in college while serving in student ministry, and married in July of 1997.  They have three children: Ashley, Trenton, and Tyler. Tim has served as a Pastor/Elder at Redemption Hill Church since the “marriage” of Foothills Community Church and Calvary Community Church into one new church during August 2017. Prior to that, he ministered as the Lead Pastor at Foothills Community Church for 9 years. In addition, he served on the pastoral staff of First Baptist Church of Windsor for 7 ½ years and in a bi-vocational role at First Baptist Church of Castro Valley for 8 years. He received a Master of Divinity degree in Theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (Gateway Seminary) and a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University of Hayward (East Bay). His passion is to “help people understand the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ, challenge them to live as Christ lived, and equip them for the work of God’s ministry.” Some of Tim's greatest joys include reading God’s Word; going on dates with his wife; spending time with his children; aviation; playing sports; and watching the Giants, Raiders, Warriors, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Kory Hopkins - Deacon

Kory has been attending Redemption Hill Church since 2000 and oversees the hospitality and facility teams. He has been a husband to his beautiful wife Jessica since October of 2002 and they have three children: Kolton, Summer, and Shayla. He loves riding motorcycles, (although he is currently without one), and playing golf.
